Throughout the episode, Oz is seen as a smart man. He is able to think quickly and come up with new plans fast. He truly is a villain worthy of being able to fight Batman or potentially any other superhero because of how deep his thinking seems to be. His ability to adapt and improvise is absolutely brilliant.
One thing is that I believe Sophia might be starting to believe Oz. She doesn’t trust him exactly, but she might think they have similar interests. Even though she probably knows something is wrong with him, she is willing to let him act as she could benefit from it. She probably still hates him for sending her to prison, but you never know, priorities change when you are trying to reach for greatness.
Victor failing was a good thing. You can’t expect everything to be perfect, and I’m glad there was no plot armor or some dumb thing that saved him. He did escape, but the fact that he struggled and didn’t complete his mission shows he’s still learning the ropes. Victor might seem like a questionable character, but I think his presence is necessary. Not only does his character develop, but he also gives us insight into how Oz operates. That tough love from Oz, where he sees potential in Victor, adds another layer to Oz’s character.
One thing about this episode is in the amount of time we see Sophia, In all her scenes, from the start to the end, you can see she’s slowly getting angered. You could argue that she feels she’s done no wrong and resents being seen as a bad person but it’s still not nice to be treated as an outcast. I wouldn’t blame her if she snaps. And also when you’re in a room with a killer, you shouldn’t taunt them or show distress and still try to play nice with them as you are just angering them more, and that is what is happening to her.
I really thought Sophia was going to kill Luca, but that would have been the dumbest thing. Instead, I think it pushed her to join forces with Oz. As the episode progresses, she does join him and I am glad I was right!
I believe their goals align. Oz wants to take over Gotham, and Sophia is driven by hate and revenge against her family and Gotham. The big question is what will happen in the end. I going to make a wild prediction that she finds out Oz killed Alberto and they both try to kill each other and shoot each other, they faint, and when they wake up they are in Arkham. It would make for a good season 2.
I want both of them to survive because I love their characters, but you never know. I mean the series is called The Penguin, not The Sophia, though that would make for a good show, like the upcoming John Wick Ballerina (2025) movie which looks promising but only time will tell. I think she’ll stay alive until the last episode at least. After that, who knows? Anything can happen.
Either way, it was a good episode and things are slowly being revealed and characters are being developed.
I’m going to be consistent with my reviews and release them as soon as the episode comes out.
I take notes throughout and turn them into an article so that’s the style of these standalone posts I’m going for.
Till next time, Peace.
