Movie review 1,2 & 3

Movie 2 — A Haunting in Venice (2023), Dir. Kenneth Branagh.

I personally love movies about finance, trading; essentially the behind the scenes of many of the big organizations that run the world wether its sports or finance. I absolutely love some of the movies and TV shows like Wolf of Wall Street (2013), The Big Short (2015), Moneyball (2011), Billions (TV 2016–2023) and Ballers (TV 2015–2019).

Wall street is now added to the list, a brilliant story that so depicts the rise and fall of Bud Fox(Charlie Sheen), In a way i kind of feel sad for him because all he wanted was to be successful but along the path to success he lost his morals.

Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) was such a charming character, it was an absolute delight to see him.

Although this movie came out decades before i was born and even the world trade center wasn’t there anymore when i was born, it is so amazing to me to see the stock market work with like pen and paper and essentially without technology.

This movie was fun to watch and I highly recommend it if you’re interested in these types of movies. 8/10

Movie 2 — A Haunting in Venice (2023), Dir. Kenneth Branagh

I have to say it is one of the best of the Kenneth Branagh Poirot movies so far. The suspense was good along with the horror element, some of the scenes that were meant to build up suspicion for characters ended up being too funny because it was very obvious that something bad was going to happen to the characters. It is a much more fast paced movie compared to the The “Murder on the Orient Express” and the “Death on the Nile” movies which can also be said for the novels. In this movie clues are being revealed very quickly and certain clues also reappear as the story moves forward allowing the audience to think quickly but not so quick that they figure out who the killer is and the movie becomes boring. Overall its a much better movie that keeps the audience engaged and able to tell a good whodunnit story.

A true Halloween movie. 10/10

Movie 3 — 57 Seconds(2023) Dir. Rusty Cundieff.

The sci-fi movie follows a new concept of time travel where you only go back 57 seconds into the past.

The movie starring Josh Hutcherson is a bio-tech blogger who wants to meet his idol Anton Burell (Morgan Freeman). Through a series of accidents he stumbles on a ring that has a button that when pressed allows him to go 57 seconds in the past.

The movie is a decent effort to make sci-fi movie with an interesting antagonist and protagonist while also having cool futuristic tech

One thing that drew me away was that there was too much emotional and romance stuff shown between the MC and his girlfriend, it feels unnecessary and feels like a waste of time to watch. The whole montage of him becoming rich and splurging is very on the nose and cute but not in a cute way. It’s entertaining only some parts but then the following scene just makes the movie feel bad.

There is a bit of clever writing like concealing the ring, or hiding it or having a basic common sense that lot of the sci-fi movies choose not to have.

It’s a movie that might be good with an audience that likes goofy sci-fi movies but its just too unappealing to recommend to anyone. 5/10
